Erwin Winkler

Welcome to my website!

I am a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. I am also a Research affiliate at IZA, a Research associate at LASER and a Guest researcher at the Institute of Employment Research (IAB). During my Ph.D., I conducted research visits at MIT and the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania).

My research interests cover topics in labor economics, applied microeconomics, applied econometrics, and international trade. I am particularly interested in the determinants of wages and wage inequality. Some of my recent work is on the link between non-wage job attributes (such as work pressure or options to work from home), wages, and wage inequality. I also study the effects of international trade and technological progress on wages, wage inequality, the task content of jobs, and other key labor market outcomes. I apply econometric methods as well as machine learning methods in my research.
